  1. Major correction:

I’m an Egyptian so I know what I’m saying, and I’m not stating an opinion but a fact on which we should base our opinions!

This is not a marriage! This is only an engagement.

It’s clear throughout the video that it’s just an engagement خطوبة (khotooba) not a marriage!
You can try listening closely where you read marriage and married in the subtitles and you will get it! and based on the level of translation I’m forced to believe it’s an intended manipulation!!

This story has been all over the local media, but as a joke, something funny sometimes and sad other times, to attach two very young children together in a verbal commitment that when they grow up they will get married.

Aside from the clear intended manipulative translation! Logic also has its say here.
The Egyptian law doesn’t permit marriage before the age of 18! They simply cannot marry and have such a big wedding and register a marriage and invite the media and TV channels etc!

I just felt that despite my own opinion or others opinions on this, facts have to be clear.
Then you can like it or hate as you wish but based on true info.

Which brings me to the issue of misleading news and manipulative info reaching the international community about a lot of things going on in Egypt nowadays, that unfortunately result in inaccurate judgements regarding the current political conflict!
